A Bible Centered Church

CHURCH RESUME

July 2014

Foots Creek Chapel is a Bible centered fellowship of believers,  in fellowship with “In Faith”, whose purpose is to honor God by worshiping and reflecting the Lord Jesus Christ. We serve Him by serving each other and by winning a lost and dying world to Him.

HISTORY OF FOOTS CREEK CHAPEL
Foots Creek Chapel was started in 1925 by the American Sunday School Union, which later changed its name to American Missionary Fellowship, and is now called “In Faith”.  It remained as a small Sunday School faithfully teaching the Word of God until 1961 when a worship service was added.  During the middle 1970’s the church grew and filled the small country chapel.  A new sanctuary was built in 1978 that would seat approximately 125 people.  By 1981 the church had outgrown the new sanctuary and a second building program was started.  In 1983 it was ready for occupancy, with a seating capacity of 240.  God’s blessing and faithfulness has been evident throughout all these years.

This expansion would include an expanded foyer, more classrooms, new restrooms and a new nursery.  A commercial grade playground has recently been installed.

2014 budget: $178,285

  • Rogue River (2,163)  3 miles from FCC
  • Gold Hill (1,236)  7 miles from FCC

There is a heavy concentration of homes on Foots Creek Road (300) and along the Rogue River Highway, which runs between the above cities.  There is a large rural population surrounding the urban areas.  The church is close to Interstate five (I-5) which runs through all four of these cities.

Population mix:  In spite of this being a rural area, the population is quite diverse, with many moving here from more urban settings, like California.  Apart from a Hispanic population, there is a very small minority presence.  Because of the excellent quality of life in the Rogue Valley, there is a significant retired community here.

DESCRIPTION OF CONGREGATION
The makeup of the FCC congregation is quite varied, from new Christians to seasoned, mature believers.  Being more of a community church, the members have come from many different denominational backgrounds, as well as no religious background at all. In spite of this they have come together in unity and support our statement of faith, which is evangelical and Bible based.

The age of the congregation has been on the older side, but recently has started to shift, with the emphasis on family and children’s ministries, which has caused FCC to begin to grow and meet the needs of families.
The makeup of the congregation reflects the community at large, being varied culturally, educationally and economically.

The church is amazing in its warmth, friendliness and ability to get along with each other.  It understands that in order to impact the community for Christ, we must change our methods, while standing firm with our message.

CHURCH EFFORTS TO ENCOURAGE GROWTH
Over the past seven years church leadership has led the congregation in the following Christian educational opportunities:

  • 40 days of purpose  -  Rick Warren
  • Truth Project  -  Focus on the Family
  • Love and Respect Seminar  - Dr. Emerson Eggerichs
  • Becoming a Contagious Christian  -  Bill Hybels
  • Just Walk across the Room  -  Bill Hybels
  • Dave Ramsey Financial Seminar  -  Dave Ramsey

SUMMARY
Foots Creek Chapel desires to grow in size, substance and structure, and fulfill the mission God has given to it in this community.  The church is in a positive, upbeat frame of mind regarding the future, and is totally depending upon the Lord for His provision of our next Senior Pastor.  In the meantime FCC will to do the things that maintain unity and continue the growth in family ministries that has been evident recently.
